Wattpad Story

Hello everyone!

As you might have read from my last post, I’m taking a break from reviewing to work on my book on Wattpad. Yay for me trying to accomplish something in my life!

I’ve received several messages from people asking about my book so since I’ve officially posted 10 chapters (!!!!!) I thought I’d post a link in case anyone wants to read it.

No seriously, go read it.

Haha just kidding (not really). But in all seriousness, here’s the link if you wanna check it out.

Thanks!!!

Quick Update

Hi everyone!

So obviously I’ve been super absent… like, super super absent. I think my last post was September. Yikes. I haven’t been doing any new book reviews because I’ve been busy working on a new book idea.

Yep, that’s right, I’m going to try writing an actual book.

So as you can imagine, that’s left me little to no time for my reviews. And I probably won’t have any time in the near future.

However, anyone interested in my story can check it out on Wattpad. I just posted the first chapter today, yay! You can check it out here… https://www.wattpad.com/user/RKPriest

And a huge thanks to everyone that’s still with my despite my spotty attendance.

I’m Back!

Hi everyone! I know it’s been an embarrassing amount of time since I last posted anything but I’m back and ready to roll out the reviews. Life has been a little hectic lately so unfortunately my bookish hobbies took a major backseat. To start with, I got a new job, at a bookstore of all places! Also, I moved into my own apartment, quickly followed by my first trip to the ER, which was definitely an experience.

And guess who went blue?

img_4028

And got two sweet new kitties?

Life is pretty good now and with everything settled and going back to normal, that means it’s book time again. Thanks for everyone that’s stuck with me through these last few months, love you guys!

Brief Update!

Hello everyone!

I just wanted to give a quick update and let you all know that I’m still alive. In the last few months, I made my first move and then promptly got super sick so I’ve been a little preoccupied. Now that I’m settled into my new place (first apartment, YAY) and finally feeling better, I plan on jumping headfirst back into reviewing books and raving about my fictional loves.

Thanks so everyone that has stuck with me over these last few months!

Book Talk: Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas

Last month I re-read the Throne of Glass series and The Assassins Blade18006496 by Sarah J. Maas, so after finishing Heir of Fire for a second time and the beautiful cover release for Queen of Shadows, I figured it was time for me to share the things that I want or expect to happen in this fourth installment.

Just as a warning, this post will include spoilers for the other books in this series.

So at the end of HoF, Celaena has embraced her identity as Aelin and she has left Rowan behind to travel back to the city, the palace, and ultimately the king. She is going back as Celaena Sardothien and obviously has some sort of plan in her mind as to how she is going to use that to her advantage.

Here is my major concern with that; I have a hard time believing that the king really won’t know who she is. I mean, he is super clever and scheming all the time, I don’t think that he isn’t going to put two and two together. Celaena coming back without having done the job she was sent there to do is already risky enough, but on top of being furious, the king might question what she was doing with all of her time over there. And with everything going on with Aelin emerging where Celaena was, plus all of the curious things surrounding Celaena in the castle, which we all know the king has noticed, he shouldn’t have trouble connecting things. So the question is, is Celaena actually walking into a trap?

On of the main questions I have is what exactly is going to happen to Dorian? At the end of HoF, his father locked the black collar around his neck and that’s all we got. I’m not sure if having the collar on is going to just put Dorian under his father’s control, or if it’s actually going to change him into something evil. Sarah J. Maas stated that QoS will be opening with a chapter from Dorian’s POV so I guess we are going to find out. I’m worried the king is going to use Dorian to get information out of Celaena or betray her. I think my main fear is that she is going to have to end up killing Dorian. Or actually, it would be even worse if Chaol has to kill him. Like if he and Celaena team up now that he has left the castle and his duties behind, and ultimately they can’t save Dorian so they have to kill him to save him. I feel like it would be extra heart-wrenching to have Chaol do it since they were like brothers.

Speaking of Chaol, I’m so nervous to see where he and Celaena are headed. I’m a huge shipper of them together, but I’m so nervous after HoF. Rowan implies that Chaol can’t actually be Celaena’s mate, and at the very end of the book, she takes off the ring she got from him and feels lighter. Obviously they aren’t done with each other, but I’m scared they will be romantically. However, maybe there is a loophole with the mate thing and maybe once she sees that Chaol picked her side, their romance will rekindle. I just don’t see her being with anyone else, or at least not any of the other male characters in the book right now. I feel like her being with Dorian would make sense, so they can rule together, but I don’t see it happening since she already kind of went down that road. I don’t want her to end up with Rowan, what they have is so much better than romance and I would be so mad if they lost it for some smooching time. Besides the two of them, that basically leaves Aedion or a new character. I don’t see Aedion happening since they are cousins, and I don’t like the idea of a guy coming in this late in the series to woo her. I don’t know, maybe Celaena won’t be with anyone, which I would prefer before anyone but Chaol.

I also have my finger crossed that we are going to see more of Manon in QoS. I loved her story line and her as a character in HoF and we know that something is going on with the witch clans. I do ultimately think that Manon will team up with Celaena, but maybe only after they face each other. I’m just intrigued to see exactly what sort of plan the king has for the witch clans and their new mounts. I don’t necessarily think that Manon and Celaena will meet up in QoS, because I feel like Manon might take this book to question herself and her duties more before encountering Celaena. We see a bit of Manon’s heart in HoF and her disobeying her grandmother, but I feel like the doubt isn’t strong enough yet for her to justify turning her back on the rest of the clans.

I think that in this book we are going to have a few major things happen, one of them being Celaena rescuing Aedion. I refuse to believe that Sarah J. Maas is evil enough to bring in such an interesting character and kill him off so quickly. I loved Aedion in HoF and I want to see what he can do with Celaena to help bring her to power. She is going to rescue him, I just know it. Another thing I think is going to happen, is that they are going to take out one of the towers blocking magic. I’m not sure if it’s going to be Celaena or Chaol or the rebels, but I think it’s going to happen. It was such a big revelation in HoF, and such a big deal if they could restore magic, that I don’t think they would put it off. And that way, Rowan will be free to come over and aid them. Then finally, I think that Celaena is going to kill her old mentor, Arobynn. I can’t even begin to tell you how much I hate this man and how excited I am to see Celaena kill him. He deserves it and I know that she is coming for blood. We know from a except released that she is at least looking for him in QoS, and I feel like shen she finally finds him, after everything he did to her, there is no way he is going to live,

The only other things I know about QoS is just that it’s going to be substantially longer than HoF which is both exciting and intimidating, and that Celaena is going to be using her ninja suit from The Assassin’s Blade. We also are going to be seeing the name change in this book, from Celaena to Aelin. I personally think I’m going to have a bit of a hard time dealing with this, but I’m sure I will get used to it eventually.

Please let me know what you guys think or hope is going to happen in Queen of Shadows! I honestly cannot wait for this book to come out, it’s release date is set for September 1st and it feels like a lifetime away.

Well I can honestly say that I started this year off strong. I managed to read 15 books in January which I’m feeling pretty damn proud of myself for. But more than that, I actually read a lot of books that I really enjoyed and I think only ended up giving one book a one heart rating this month.

15 Most Anticipated Books of 2015

A new year has started and that means a whole bunch of new books coming out that I’m beyond excited for. Narrowing it down to fifteen was beyond difficult but it’s been done. I’m going to post the one with covers out already first, for the sake of this post looking pretty 😉

1. A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas: For those of you that have watched any of my book videos or basically looked around my blog at all, you’ll know that I’m madly in love with Sarah J. Maas and anything she writes. So when I say that she was coming out with a new adult fantasy series, I wanted to cry. My heart isn’t ready for it. I would literally murder for an ARC of this book.

2. The Winner’s Crime by Marie Rutkowski: The second book in this series, I read The Winner’s Crime and few months ago and fell in love with the world and Kestrel and her witty, smart way of being a badass. I can’t wait to see her story continue, especially since she is a secret spy in this one, passing information to her true love.

3. Lair of Dreams by Libba Bray: The Diviners was such a great and interesting book with it’s cast of fun and unique characters and the spooky, paranormal aspects, and I know the sequel is just going to keep delivering. After Evie ended the last book with a bang, I can’t wait to see what kind of trouble she get’s herself into in this one. Plus, did I mention that I’m a huge fan of weird dream stuff. I can already tell this book is going to rock.

4. A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E Schwab: Gah! My stomach literally twists with excitement when I think about this book. Parallel worlds? Magic? Treason? How could this book get any better?! It kind of reminds me of Howl’s Moving Castle (the movie) with the colors and travelling through worlds, and I can’t wait to read it. Kell is going to steal my heart, I can feel it.

5. Vision in Silver by Anne Bishop: After the amazing Written in Red, and the equally amazing Murder of Crows, I’m beyond excited to see what the third book in this urban fantasy series has in store. All I know is, I’m desperately in need of some smooching between Simon and Meg. I adore every single character in these books and know that the next book is going to make me love them even more.

18966819  16182308  17878931  17333171

Golden Son by Pierce Brown: I read Red Rising a month or two ago and instantly fell in love with Darrow, with the writing, the world, all of the characters, just everything about the book was beyond amazing. I know that Golden Son is going to pack and emotional punch, and I’m excited to see how Darrow is going to fit into this new world, and what changes he is going to bring.

A Cold Legacy by Megan Shepard: This series is so dark and spooky, and the second book left us with such a big cliff-hanger, I almost couldn’t stand it. To be honest, I have no idea how this series is going to end, but I know it’s going to give me shivers and ask some big questions about life and death.

Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard: I always get nervous about pre-ordering books when they are the first in a series by an author I don’t know, but this books sounds good enough that I’m willing to give it a try. I love that sort of power struggle game that it sounds like this book is going to have going on, and who doesn’t live a good fantasy world? I’ve heard that the heroine is one who should be right up my alley, strong, smart, and a little badass, so that’s always a plus.

Magic Shifts by Ilona Andrews: The Kate Daniels series is my favorite urban fantasy series OF ALL TIME. Yep, you read that right. Kate is absolutely the most badass, hilarious, absolutely awesome woman ever and damn, these books keep you entertained. I love the chemistry between characters, the interesting mythology and lore in the books, how every single book is better than the last, and this series has some of the best romance ever. Can you see why I’m excited for the new book?

Untitled (The Raven Cycle #4) by Maggie Stiefvater: I love The Raven Boys and you all know it. Gansey and Ronan are my babies, and I want to be Blue so bad, it’s not even funny. There are so many things that need to be wrapped up in this last book, so many questions that need answers, and I know that Maggie Stiefvater is going to end it beautifully. But thinking about it also makes me feel slightly sick because the ending of this series is going to hit me so hard, I don’t know how I’m going to be able to handle it.

Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare: Okay, I know that this one says on Goodreads that it doesn’t come out until 2016, but I pinky promise, when I made this list and filmed the video for my Youtube channel, it said 2015. So it’s too late for me fix it, you guys will just have to deal with it. Anyways, do I need to explain why I’m excited for this series? Cassandra Clare? Shadowhunters? I’m squealing right now. While I do think it’s a little silly that Cassandra Clare is just pumping out series after series about Shadowhunters, I get it. She made a good world and she is going to make good money. I just hope this series doesn’t feel repetitive.

The Sword of Summer by Rick Riordan: With the ending of the Heroes of Olympus series last year, I’m in serious need of some new Rick Riordan stuff in my life. But if I’m being honest, one of the main reason’s I’m exicted for this book is because this boy and Annabeth from the other series are apparently related. So I’ve got my fingers crossed for some crossover stuff happening and hopefully some Percy time. I need it. Also, I love Norse mythology and I’m excited to see Loki, who we all know is going to be in this series. Hopefully, a young and very attractive Loki.

Untitled (Throne of Glass #4) by Sarah J. Maas: Now this one I REALLY shouldn’t have to explain. But holy guacamole you guys, I couldn’t be more excited. I have no idea how she is going to top Heir of Fire though, because it completely blew my mind. The plot is thickening, that’s all I have to say. And some characters we meet in the last book are no my favorites, so I can’t wait to see what they get into. I’m getting all nervous excited just thinking about it.

Winter by Marissa Meyer: Another end to a great series, another book that’s going to make me cry. We met Winter briefly at the end of Cress, and that girl has something not working quite right upstairs, if you know what I mean. But I loved it. I’m already so intrigued by her as a character and I can already see how this book could potentially play out. However, I love all of the characters so far and I can’t help but feel like not everyone is going to get a happily ever after, which is unacceptable. I don’t want to bawl like a baby when Cinder get’s her head chopped off by Levana or Captain Thorne gets thrown off a building or something awful like that. They all have to live.

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo: While I liked Leigh Bardugo’s Grisha Trilogy, I feel almost more excited for this book just because it has some many things that I know I’m going to love. A big cast of interesting sounding characters, including one out for revenge. I love bloodthirsty, revenge hungry characters. And of course, the impossible heist that they are going to try to pull off. How could this book get any better? Uhm actually, now that I think about it, if the Darkling made a guest appearance, I’d be all over than.

So those are my 15 most anticipated books of 2015! Be sure and let me know what you guys think about my choices and what books you are excited for this year!
